"I'm Ready" - Using Spongebob Squarepants to Become the Perfect Employee

If you've ever heard or seen a Spongebob Squarepant's episode then you understand the statement in the title of this post.

But if you are new to this topic, here are the basics of who Spongebob Squarepants is.

He's an innocent, fun loving, yellow, square shaped sponge that lives in an imaginative undersea world.

His approach to life is easy going, simple but surprisingly refreshing compared to all the intense and graphic cartoon shows out there.

I have been a fan of the show since it first aired in 1999, and I will still occasionally watch some of the episodes.

There is one main thing I have taken away from Spongebob's character, and that's how to be the perfect employee who absolutely loves his job.

Without question you can tell he loves to work, and always has a positive attitude.

Here are some examples that I have learned from Spongebob on how to become the perfect employee.

Everyday when he wakes up and gets ready for work, Spongebob says the phrase "I'm Ready, I'm Ready!".

He has the attitude that he's really excited and looking forward to going to his job (as a fry cook no less).

For most of us, having to go to work everyday is not something we are excited about in the least.

Imagine if we changed our attitudes and had a more positive outlook towards our jobs. We could improve the atmosphere of those around us while increasing our own quality of life.

Spongebob has incredible dedication to his job, his boss Mr. Krabs, and to the customers he serves. He continuously strives to do his best on a daily basis, and to treat everyone with an immense amount of enthusiasm and respect (even when they do not reciprocate).

This is definitely a great quality to possess for anyone working in a customer or client based business. Having that amount of dedication day after day is difficult, but it's a great example to follow.

No job is too big or too small for Spongebob to take on. If you ask him to take out the trash, he gladly accepts, or if you need him to make a 100 burgers he whips them up in a jiffy. He will jump at the chance to do any and all work.

That type of willingness and humility is rare these days, since everyone is looking out for themselves while completely disregarding others.

Getting ahead in life requires working together as a team, and genuinely cheering for another persons success. There's no way you can make it to the top alone, and we all need to be willing to take on any job for the benefit of the whole team.

Without a doubt it's more fun to be around a co-worker or employee that doesn't take themselves too seriously and learns to roll with the punches.

Maybe you messed up, tried something new that didn't work or made a mistake, don't worry it's not the end of the world.

Your ability to fix the situation and compensate for the mistake will show better character than just stressing over the fact that you made the error.

Poke fun at yourself and learn to use your personality quirks to your advantage.

As proven in several episodes, when Spongebob is pressured he can become very competitive and will do almost anything to prove he is the perfect employee. Now I wouldn't go quite that far, but I do think a healthy dose of competition within the work place is a good thing.

Being creative and thinking outside the box helps fuel Spongebob's competitive spirit. He can come up with some of the silliest but effective ideas to showcase his work ethic, and that's the kind of mindset I try to use while doing my own work. I want to be creative and competitive, but not to the point where I'll do anything to get ahead.

Using Spongebob Squarepants to become the perfect employee is a funny but realistic way to make your job more profitable in all areas.

Mixing a little humor into your daily routine will help you enjoy your job instead of dreading it.

Add in some willingness, dedication and a positive attitude and you will continue to move up the corporate ladder.
